Patio, Pool Deck & Exterior Concrete Coatings

Exterior concrete in the Lehigh Valley faces a harder test than anything indoors: full UV exposure all summer, then a full winter of freeze-thaw cycling and salt.

Why Exterior Systems Are Different

UV stability is mandatory. Standard epoxy yellows and chalks under direct sunlight. Exterior work requires UV-stable polyaspartic or polyurea systems, or the floor discolors within a season or two.

Slip resistance is a safety requirement, not a preference. Around a pool, a smooth coated surface is genuinely hazardous. Exterior systems need aggregate broadcast or a texture additive to maintain traction wet.

Freeze-thaw tolerance. The coating must stay flexible enough to move with the slab through Pennsylvania's winter cycling without cracking or delaminating. A rigid indoor system applied outside will fail here.

Drainage and slope have to be respected. Coating over a patio that already ponds water traps that water against the surface and shortens the coating's life. Slope issues get addressed before coating, not after.

Common Exterior Applications

Pool decks and surrounds, back patios and porches, covered walkways and entryways, and outdoor kitchen or grilling areas.
